Yes, you read it quite right, Vikings: Valhalla season 2 will not be coming in July 2022. But hey! don’t lose the hope yet as, it’s definitely not cancelled. In this article we will cover everything you need to know about Vikings: Valhalla season 2! Let’s get started.

What’s stored in for season 2?

Before that, let’s go back to how the season 1 ended-

  • The first season of Vikings: Valhalla ended with a war between the Christian and pagan Viking forces and a lot of carnage and some despair. And Freydis and Harald manage to flee the Kingdom of Kattegat, which is now ruined, proving the pagan seer’s prophecy – that Freydis is “The Last Daughter of Uppsala” – which is the ultimate truth, as she is still alive and in possession of the sword. Leif stayed behind in the battle-damaged kingdom, mourning the death of Liv who died in his arms. The final episode ends with Leif in killing everyone in sight, not even sparing a 14-year-old boy who comes in front of him.

Everything you need to know about season 2 of Vikings: Valhalla- the plot, theme , developments and more.

  • An interview with Digital Spy, actor Leo Suter hinted that the two character’s relationship continue to develop in season 2. “These are two people who are… they have a lot to talk about, and they work so well together. But at the same time, there are big forces and big passions that are pulling them apart, and as with any sort of love story.”
  • “It’s so simple in some respects, but also so complicated in other ways,” he continued. “So season two will be a journey for them, and we’ll get to see these two headstrong characters with strong beliefs and principles figure out what the world holds for them.”
  • In the next season there will be new beginnings for the main characters of the series, apparently which also involves love and romance. Yes, love might flourish in the next season between Harald and Freydis. Another big character development follows Leif. Talking with GamesRadar, Stuart disclosed that the character will continue to transform into a berserker who is terrifyingly shaken by Liv’s death. And there is some “darkness” in Leif that he got from his father- Erik the Red. With liv being alive by his side, Leif could keep the darkness under his control. Eventually, with Liv’s death, Leif will embark on a big journey maybe to also confront his inner demons and darkness.
  • “Essentially, what I wanted the audience to say is when you get to season two, you’re going to see a very different Leif Erikson, somebody who is driven now and is pulling his father out of every pore in his body,” Stuart explained. “Hopefully, we’ll get to see his father down the road at some point too.”
  • “Viking DNA is found almost all over that part of Europe. They went to the Iberian Peninsula and obviously England and Ireland. So you can probably guess that my Vikings are going to get on their boats and explore a little bit.”
  • The next season will be more international and will focus more into the traveler side of the Vikings culture and history. “They were great traders. So they went to Constantinople, they went to Egypt, they went through the Middle East,” Stuart told Newsweek.
